Most E36's equiped with dual zone climate control, at some stage suffer from Control Unit failure. Usually the problem presents itself by: The unit can be either replaced with a new one costing around £200 at BMW dealership, or repaired at a substantially lower cost. Paul started servicing these units in 2004. He is a qualified electronic engineer and knows these units inside out. You may have seen links or instructions on the internet detailing how to repair these units, whilst anyone with the required skills and a suitable soldering iron and de-soldering tools could repair their unit, why take the chance on rendering your unit un-serviceable. The printed circuit whilst being double-sided is very fragile and very easy to damage meaning that any component replaced is effectively 'not connected' Around 5% of the units sent to Paul have been 'repaired' previously and are un-serviceable. It's very disappointing having to tell the customer that their repair has wrecked the unit, all to save a few pounds.
